Reel Reviews – Superfly

Reel Reviews #57: “Super Hood, Super High, Super Dude…” One of the original “Blaxploitation” films, this one helped to set the standard. An iconic performance by Ron O’Neal as Youngblood Priest and an amazing soundtrack by Curtis Mayfield makes Superfly a film worth watching. “It’s not so much what we do, it is having a choice.”

wow, 57 just like heinz
Really enjoyed hearing about Superfly. Even though I grew up in the period when Curtis Mayfield’s big hits from the soundtrack were all over radio and remember commercials from the film being on television (remember those “now playing at the Pinefield Twin” outros local stations used to dub in?), I’ve never had the opportunity to see it…definitely got it in my Netflix queue now.
Keep up the great work,
Jeffrey
