A must read for film lovers is Hollywood Animal : A Memoir by Joe Eszterhas. You can read all the dirt behind the scenes Showgirls, Flashdance, Jagged Edge, Basic Instinct and other films he was a screenwriter for.

The depth of your reviews always impresses me, this certainly was no exception. The facts of the writers other scripts is truly amazing! I want his agent! Sorry – not so bad it’s good, even sort of. Just painfully, utterly terrible. You’ll come away thinking of the 2 hours of your life you’ll never get back. If you’re a smoker, you could quit to give yourself some added longevity, then watch “Showgirls”. Otherwise, I can’t think of a justification.

Good call! I forgot to mention the VH1 version of the film. As you point out, watching the VH1 version is an entirely different and potentially rewarding experience.

Kevin, Thanks for the comment. The album artwork is a photo from early last year that I had taken to prove to Cameron Reilly of G'day World that I actually owned the "Showgirls V.I.P Edition." I thought it would be an appropriate added touch for this edition of Reel Reviews.

Oh! We’ve been saying to ourselves…”when is Michael gonna review a GOOD friggin movie?” While this is an excellent “film,” Lisa really prefers the VH1 version with the digital bikinis. They add an unexpected element to the film that only improves it further. In fact, I have purchased a digital bikini for myself! 5 stars!!!

Michael, nice to see you stretching the genres with this Reel Review. I really liked the discussion of this important landmark in cinema history and the details of the new DVD set.

I absolutely love the album art for this episode — awesome photo! Such a different vibe than your recent photos from Disneyland (on your MWGblog).
