Dana,

I have seen both "Kicking And Screaming" and "Highball". I am pretty sure I mentioned KAS in the review. It has always been a personal favorite. I watched it again just last month.

GREAT pick Michael! I haven't seen Metropolitan in a long time, but your review refreshed my memory. I actually liked Noah Baumbach's "Kicking and Screaming" even more than Metropolitan!

Did you ever see Noah's "Highball"? This one was really thrown together, and is hard to find. I actually happened to catch it on HBO a couple of years ago. It was shot in something like 4 days and has a decent amount of improve. My wife and I quote these movies so much. I feel like this genre is gone, though, and I miss it.

Keep up the good work, Michael!

mandrake,

Thanks for the comments. I must admit, I struggled with the quotes I used in the post for this film. There are so many good ones.

Tom: "You don't have to read a book to have an opinion on it."

Nick;"I've always planned to be a failure anyway, that's why I plan to marry an extremely wealthy woman. "

Nick: "I guess you could say it's extremely vulgar, I like it a lot."

Nick: "Driver! Follow that pedestrian!"

Thanks again.

I forgot to mention my favorite quotes:

Nick: Playing strip poker with an exhibitionist somehow takes the challenge away.

...and...

Tom: He seems less pessimistic than you.
Charlie: I know, it doesn't ring true.

Again, you show impeccable taste. What I love about this film is that, regardless of the erudite discussion, it boils down to who's attracted to whom. It's not "the politics of sex"...more like "the repressed urges of the non-political elite"...or something. Either way, good times.

I miss Nick after he leaves (he's soooo disruptive), but in then I love Taylor Nichols "performance...performance as...as Charlie". Go figure. ;)

Great...great review!
