Reel Reviews - The Big Red One
Reel Review #36: “This is a fictional life, based on a factual death.” Check out this reconstructional of the 1980 Samuel Fuller film, The Big Red One. Originally butchered by the studio, Richard Schickel attempts to restore the film to the director’s original vision. Lee Marvin, Mark Hamill and Robert Carradine - what more can you ask for? “We don’t murder, we kill.”

This ( http://laserblazer.com/bigredonephotos.html ) recently happened at a local vid store. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it that night.
As Michael notes in the review, this film is about the Army’s first division, which Samuel Fuller was in. Their uniform patch is simply the numeral “1″ in red. So I believe the title should be pronounced “the big red ONE”, not “the big RED one”.
Any veterans out there who can help us ?
Bob,
I agree with you. Much like in The Conversation, the word upon which the emphasis is placed can make all the difference.
I just watched The Conversation ! So it should be “THE Conversation” not “the CONVERSATION” ? I learn something new every day.

Ain’t It Cool had a good interview about The Big Red One with Mark Hamill and some other folks involved with the film from that event. You should be able to catch it here: http://aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=20245
