Chris at Podcast Alley has responded to the latest voting “scandals” with a vastly improved voting system. Gone is the 24 hour voting cycle replaced with a sensible system that allows podcast listeners to support the podcasts they enjoy on a monthly basis. By voting once a month, fans can help podcasts they listen to receive recognition in both the monthly and all time totals.

Better yet, the new system is one built around positive support. Gone is the ability to vote “against” other podcasts. You can either vote for a podcast or not at all. This will eliminate the problems we discussed here. With all these changes, Chris has also reset the voting.

Two months ago when the voting changed to a 24 hour cycle, I left up the vote box on the main page but stopped asking for support in my podcasts. I appreciate everyone who continued to vote but I did not feel comforatble soliciting for votes on a daily basis, I felt that was too much of an imposition. The new system is one I feel is fair and equitable and one that I will suport.
