Reel Reviews – Riding Giants
Reel Review #20: “Wow, 20 Reel Reviews! Here is a film I had not planned on doing, but after watching it I had to share it with you. I am not a surfer but Stacy Peralta, the director, does a fantastic job of making the world of big wave surfers accessible. Yes, they are crazy, but this entertaining and informative documentary allows you to come to appreciate the men and women who are pushing the envelope among these mountainous waves.

Thanks for another great review Michael. I loved “Dogtown and Z-Boys” I’ve never really been into skateboarding but it is a fantastic film. I highly recommend it.
Great movie. I went out and bought it yesterday after hearing your review. I like that you are mixing in some newer movies. Peralta really knows how to make a movie and get the audience attached to the characters/subjects.
I’m a regular listener and love your podcasts, but is now the time to be talking about movies about big waves…?
Yeah. Maybe you shouldn’t talk about Apocalypse Now either…….aarf.
Mike, Thanks for the review. I would have not have watched the movie without it. It was great. Go Laird.
I too would never have watched this very compelling film if it hadn’t been for your mention… You should really get sponsorship from Netflix! Very nicely done movie.
