Michael,

I completely understand the need to limit production when it doesn't really add value to a piece. Speaking of "take dead aim ...", you'll have to check out the podcast I just set up called Illinoise! (Illinoise.net). The reason I bring it up is not as a cheap plug; rather, we're running a segment called "Robot Theatre" where we take great scenes from movies, tv, theatre, etc. and have the synthetic robot voices of my Mac perform them. This week, they're (the robots) are performing the phone call scene from "Swingers" ... in the very near future we're doing that same Rushmore scene ("take dead aim..."). I think you might get a kick out of it!

Keep up the great work!

This sounds like a fun film! I will buy it, if we have a good price someday. :)

Pete, I came really close to using that exact segment in the Rushmore review. I also had Bill Murray keyed up with the "take dead aim on the rich kids..." but ended up not using it. I'm not opposed to it, I'm just not convinced it would necessarily add value as opposed to just being "neat" that I did it. I'll do it soon enough, but only when it helps flush something out in the film. This has been discussed once before here. Thanks for the comment.

Mike, great podcast here. Is there any reason you're not using actual audio clips from the movies within your reviews? As I understand the copyright laws, you can use materials if the purpose of the use is analysis or study, which you would fall into. Audio clips would add a LOT!

"They're O.R. scrubs."

"Oh, ARE they?"

This movie really made Bill Murray for me. I love the guy now. Fantastic job on the RR, Michael. I enjoyed it. Rushmore is one of my favorite shows. And the soundtrack is one to behold.

Chris, right on with the Criterion Collection call. I own both as well. As for Bill Murray, one word - Robbed! What an injustice.

Can't tell you how disappointed I was when Bill Murray didn't even get a Best Supp. Actor nomination for this role. He's come along way from The Razor's Edge. :)

And Criterion did this title great justice, didn't they? A movie so nice I bought it twice.
