Jaime:

Yes I have seen Iron Monkey. As for Zatoichi - it is a must see. Just great. It blends action and humor in a smart way.

I saw Zatoichi a few months ago when I was visiting family in Boston... and I was blown away by the "music", especially during the final scenes... it was something radically different from your conventional American cinema and absolutely breathtaking to experience. I highly recommend it.

Mike,

I got Ju-On at home (Netflix) and I'm watching it tomorrow (Wed.) with a friend!!! What a coincidence! I picked it up because I have read a lot about Japanese horror (The Ring, The Grudge, etc.) and I was tired of watching remakes in English.

I actually started with "Tomie: Rebirth" which apparently comes before in the saga. However, I was extremelly bored while watching it: either I'm missing something very akin to Japanese culture or it simply was a bad movie. This has lowered my expectations about Ju-On considerably, so I will have as a back up "The Ring" (the new remake).

I haven't seen "a day without a Mexican", but I have read about it, heard about it, and seen several trailers and scenes. It's particularly interesting to me since I'm Mexican and I live in California, just like the story in the movie. The idea of the creators was "to make visible the invisible": What would happen to everybody's normal life if all the Mexicans left? I hope to see it soon.

"Zatoichi" was playing for a little while at the same movie house where Adam C., Dawn and Drew went on Saturday night to catch their X-rated 3D film. I couldn't catch it then, but it's definetely in my list. Have you seen "Iron Monkey"?
