[...] Pardon the title of the post, which borrows from Dr. Strangelove. Charlie Savage has an article in the Boston Globe today (subscription sporadically required), discussing part of the Constitution without actually quoting it, and that always annoys me. The subject of the article is Judge Alito’s stance with respect to the Due Process Clause. Savage manages to make it through the whole article without mentioning the words “due process,” as if reporters must shield us from what the law literally says. His article includes this quote: “There are many very important and serious legal scholars who take issue with [liberty rights] because it very quickly becomes what the judge thinks the law should cover,” said Sean Rushton, of the conservative Committee for Justice.
Another great podcast. I was lucky enough to get introduced to Kubrick in high school by one of my teachers... and Strangelove is probably his most accessible film. If you haven't seen it and you're reading this... by God, get out there and see it.

Also, Michael, I wanted to ask you something. I was going to e-mail you but I couldn't find your address for the life of me. I review movies for my school paper and I often get to see them in advance, and I'm thinking of putting together a podcast for current movie reviews. Unfortunately, I have no webspace and less ability to put together an RSS 2.0 feed. Thus, what I'd like to do is maybe e-mail you reviews of new movies a day or two before they come out which you could post as a sort of sidebar to your main column. I'm putting one together for The Incredibles as I write this, I'd be happy to e-mail it to you and hear any feedback you may have towards it.

You can reach me at davidfincher@gmail.com, because I'm a cybersquatting chump.

Brian, thank you for the kind words. I am always glad to hear people, like you, are enjoying my podcasts. Thanks again.

Michael

P.S. I just posted this from BloggerCon and Dave Slusher is sitting next to me opining to Robert Scoble - this is a little surreal.

Kubrick is God!
Your show is fantastic! Thanks for the film discussion. I've seen most of the films you've reviewed and I really enjoyed listening to you talk about them. I'm a MWGblog feed subscriber now!

Thanks for the comment Tim. As you can appreciate it is tough with Kubrick, too many good choices. I actually own all of his films from 1955's Killer's Kiss forward. Most likely I'll visit Barry Lyndon next. I love that movie, it takes its time and the entire journey is a pleasure to watch. Great music too. You list some all time greats, eventually we will get to them all.

As for David Lean, I have Great Expectations on my short list for an upcoming Cinephile Series. That film is perfect for a CS, as it is difficult to discuss without giving away critical spoilers.

Thanks for listening.
